Statice Founder Awarded AUA Presidential Citation

On May 1, the American Urological Association (AUA) presented our Founder Kathleen Shanley, PhD, with a Presidential Citation for her work in advancing AUA’s mission in public policy and advocacy.  Presidential citations are awarded to individuals deemed to have significantly promoted the cause of urology.

Here’s What AUA Said About Kathleen’s Impact on Public Policy

Dr. Shanley led the AUA Public Policy and Advocacy Division for 10 years in working closely with AUA’s Public Policy Chairs and Board of Directors to evolve and expand AUA’s health policy mission, said AUA President Edward M. Messing, MD, FACS. She strategically positioned the AUA as a leading urology advocacy association at the federal and state levels. This leadership included developing the AUA Annual Urology Advocacy Summit program to engage younger members and partnering organizations to focus on the broader issues facing the urology community.

Dr. Shanley led the AUA team for regulatory programs to position AUA to respond and defend urology reimbursements with the CPT®, RVC Update Committee, American Medical Association, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and other societies and agencies and helped address complex legislation at the regional and state levels through partnerships with state medical and urological societies and task forces. Dr. Shanley also was AUA's primary liaison for the Board of Directors Diversity and Inclusion Task Force, which became the framework for the newly established Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
